Kansas State Fair 2012

We didn't get to go to the Fair as many times as I would have liked. You must know that when it comes to the Kansas State Fair, I'm pretty hardcore. I LOVE the people, I LOVE the smells, and I especially LOVE the foods. My husband knew I must be on death's doorstep to come home and announce we would not be going to the Fair with the rest of the family. Especially odd since it was Dillon's Dollar Day. (I'll admit to being cheap as well!)

We did make it out a few times, however, and made some memories all the while. We went to see the Draft Horse Sled Championships. It's a bit of a drawn out process and seems to be more fun without a squirmy toddler in tow. So please don't ask which team won, I won't have the foggiest.

So, instead we wandered around a bit with Uncle Squeaky and Aunt B. We went to the K-State birthing center where once again, I got to see a cow deliver aftermath. 3 TIMES I have missed the birth of a calf by less than an hour and this time I missed the birth of twins! Seriously, they should make an App for that!!

We then went to see the giant pumpkins, the butter sculpture, and the scarecrows. My favorite pair of the scarecrows was Lumiere and Cogsworth. The Lorax scarecrow didn't seem very original but certainly noteworthy.

I also took Riley down the giant yellow slide at this year's Fair. Going down this 3 story slide has always been something I've wanted to do but my parents always said it cost too much. As an adult,  it just seems goofy. But, this year, I have a toddler just crazy enough to enjoy the adventure with me. The long climb lugging an extra 25 lbs kinda sucked (and I did lose a shoe) but totally worth it! Riley screamed with delight and cried when we left.

Here are pictures from this Year's adventures:
