Fear the Wheat!!

While everyone seems to be jumping on the Wichita State Shockers bandwagon, I am not one of these people. The reason I want to make this clear is that this is exactly what I was recently been accused of by one of my very own students! How dare they!

Yes, with the recent success of the men's basketball team (Final Four last season and an unprecedented undefeated regular season so far) there are a fair share of folks who want to be a part of the awesomeness. I would like to make it very clear to everyone that I have been a fan of this school since I began attending there. I was the person that cheered for them when their only claim to greatness was that they had a national championship bowling team. (And yes, I actually told people that.) I am not like those in the limelight that choose to don our spirit wear although we have no doubt that before last season, and maybe even now, you have no inkling as to what a Shocker or even a Wheat Shocker really is. We don't discredit those from Kansas who want to cheer out of respect for their home state. As do all things, this commotion will probably pass but I will still be cheering "Go Shox" for those in the Black and Gold. But for those out there who continue to doubt us, I have one thing to say to you, "Fear. The. Wheat!"
